Farmingdale Dog & Cat Clinic

Diagnostic Care

When something’s wrong with your pet, it can be incredibly stressful. But let us help put your mind at ease as our expert team of veterinarians works to diagnose exactly what’s going on with your pet’s health so that we can then recommend an effective treatment plan to get them back to their old self.

In-House Laboratory

Farmingdale Dog & Cat Clinic has an in-house lab which is hugely beneficial in making timely and accurate diagnoses. In fact, samples can be analyzed in as little as 20 minutes! This means that our patients can begin treatment sooner.

Deworming

Deworming eliminates intestinal parasites in your pet such as hookworm, roundworm, whipworm, and tapeworm. This is especially important for puppies and kittens. At Farmingdale Dog & Cat Clinic, we strategically plan deworming services during the first year of life and then assess your pet’s risk factor into their adult years.

Fecal Tests

Fecal testing is a key part of your pet’s semi-annual wellness exam. Unlike external parasites such as fleas and ticks, intestinal parasites such as worms, giardia, and coccidia are not always visible. A fresh stool sample will allow us to ensure your pet is free of intestinal parasites, which can cause real damage if left untreated. Fecal samples also keep you and your family safe as certain intestinal parasites are transmissible to humans.

Heartworm Testing

Symptoms of heartworm disease are typically subtle or undetectable. For this reason, we recommend annual heartworm testing for your pet’s safety against this fatal disease. All we need is a small blood sample that will be tested for heartworm proteins. This will confirm that your pet’s monthly preventive is working properly as well ensuring your pet is not infected.

An annual heartworm test is required before prescribing heartworm prevention.

Pain Management

The medical team at Farmingdale Dog & Cat Clinic is trained to lessen and eliminate pain in your pet. This is important as pain can also affect pets mentally. If your pet is having a surgical procedure, pain is rigorously monitored before, during, and after, so pain can be treated and prevented whenever possible.

We also aim to educate clients so subtle signs of pain are more easily identified at home.

Digital X-Ray

X-rays are a safe, painless, and non-invasive tool to diagnose conditions such as heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, arthritis, intestinal blockages, bladder stones, cancer, and more. An x-ray machine is available at our sister location, Levittown Animal Hospital.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology is used to examine a patient’s tendons, muscles, joints, and internal organs. This is helpful in the diagnosis of illness and injury.

Electrocardiogram

Electrocardiography measures a pet’s heart rhythms and electrical impulses. This diagnostic tool is non-invasive and gentle. A pet is laid gently on their side while electrodes are placed on various areas of their body.
