Farmingdale Dog & Cat Clinic

Pet Dental Services

Your pet’s mouth and teeth shouldn’t be neglected - after all, for dogs and cats the mouth is as important for experiencing the world as hands are for people. At Farmingdale Dog and Cat Clinic, we’ll help create a dental care plan that’s right for your unique pet - from prevention to treatment of specific oral health issues.

Dental Care

Your pet’s dental health is important. Without semi-annual dental exams and regular cleanings, your pet becomes susceptible to gingivitis and periodontal disease. Oral bacteria can easily enter the bloodstream, which increases the risk for oral infection and complications in vital bodily systems.

Gingivitis and periodontal disease are uncomfortable and become increasingly painful over time. Symptoms to watch out for include bad breath, excessive drooling, trouble chewing, discolored teeth, weight loss, decreased appetite, and irritability.

During your pet’s semi-annual wellness exam, we will inspect their teeth and gums for signs of dental disease. Most dentals are completed at Farmingdale, however if it is beyond the scope of what we can do we will refer you elsewhere. A referral takes place if your normal vet decides that they cannot provide the level of expertise or facilities required to treat your pet in the best way possible.

Levittown Animal Hospital is fully equipped with the latest advancements and technology in veterinary dentistry. To make a complete and accurate diagnosis, we will take dental radiographs so we can get a clear view of what is happening beneath the gum line. This will ensure total procedural success. Anesthesia is needed during dental cleanings for your pet’s safety and comfort. When they wake up, they will have fresh-smelling breath and a clean smile!

At-home dental care is important, too! During your pet’s visit, we will show you how to brush your pet’s teeth at home and recommend various pet dental products.
